Nina Warren - soprano
Nina Warren is an internationally acclaimed artist known for her interpretations of the most demanding dramatic soprano repertoire. Her career highlights include: Brünnhilde in Die Walküre with Charles Dutoit at the Teatro Colon, Turandot with Los Angeles Opera, Sinaloa Festival of the Arts Mexico, Teatro Colon and Köln, Minnie in La Fanciulla del West, with Los Angeles Opera and Essen Opera, Marie in Wozzeck with San Diego Opera, Leonore in Fidelio in Essen, Connecticut Grand, Bonn and Nice, Tosca with Teatro Municipal in Santiago and New York City Opera, Emilia Marty in The Makropolous Case at the Janáček Festival Brno and Köln, Kostelnička in Jenufa in Sao Paolo and Essen, a new production of Jonnie Spielt Auf with Köln Opera, Chrysothemis with Baltimore Opera, Schoenberg's Erwartung with Canadian Opera, Lavinia in Mourning Becomes Elektra with Seattle Opera, Marie/Marietta in Die Tote Stadt in Köln and Spoleto, Senta in Frankfurt and Palm Beach, Salome in such theaters as Deutsche Oper Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Dresden, Ghent, Antwerp, Trieste, Seattle Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Opera Pacific, Baltimore Opera, Utah Opera, Arizona Opera and last season's debut at the Teatro Petruzzelli as Brünnhilde in Götterdämmerung which was "convincingly tender in the prologue. She returned to the MET for three consecutive season for the LePage Ring and then reprised her world premiere roles in Tan Dun's Marco Polo with the Bergen National Opera and the International Festival of Norway. In the 2014/15 season, she made her Lyric Opera of Chicago debut in Miecyzslaw Weinberg's The Passenger and returned in the 2015/16 season for Marie in Wozzeck; in the spring of 2016 she was at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova for Salome. Her recent return to the Teatro Colón in the title role of Turandot in July was highly praised by critics worldwide.
Her world premieres include Tan Dun's Marco Polo in Munich, Hong Kong and Amsterdam (recorded for Sony Classics), and her debut with Hamburg opera in the world premiere of Zemlinsky's Konig Kandaules as Nyssia, which was televised on the Arte channel and recorded for the Capriccio label which she later reprised at the Teatro Colon and Köln Opera, and Stephen Albert's Treestone at Alice Tully Hall.
Notable appearances on the concert stage include a televised concert of Salome and Alban Berg Lieder with the Kölner Rundfunk Symphonie Orchester under the baton of Hans Vonk and Zemlinsky's "Lyric" Symphony with The Royal Flemish Orchestra.
Ms. Warren began her career in New York, where she appeared at the Metropolitan Opera as Gerhilde in Die Walküre under the baton of James Levine, and New York City Opera where in her first season she received Debut Artist of the Year Award.
A graduate in dance and theatre arts from Brigham Young University, Nina studied voice at Manhattan School of Music and the Opera Center at the Juilliard School.
