FRANCESCO ANILE – tenor
Born in Polistena in the province of Reggio Calabria, he graduated in the clarinet in 1985 and in singing in 1989, awarded full honors at the Conservatorio “F. Cilea” in Reggio Calabria. Later he completed his studies with the Baritone Aldo Protti in Cremona, and following his change in voice from Baritone to Tenor he was mentored by the Tenor Ottavio Taddei in Florence.
In 2001 he attended master classes at the “Verdi Opera Festival” in Parma held by Renata Scotto and Maja Sunara. He has received many certificates, commendations and recognitions of achievement, and has been a finalist in prestigious National and International competitions such as “Toti Dal Monte” in Treviso; “Lauri Volpi” in Latina; “Cilea” in Reggio Calabria; “Bellini” in Caltanissetta. He came first in the “E. Bastianini” category in Concorso “Grandi Voci Toscane” (“Great Tuscan Voices” contest) in Campi Bisenzio – Florence, and won third prize at the International Contest M. Del Monaco “Marsala”.
Since 1999 he has been performing at the greatest theatres in Europe and the world – Tokyo, Seoul, National Opera Houses in Zagreb, Ljubljana, Malta, Cairo, Daegu, Otsu, Yerevan, Stadtische Theater Chemnitz (Germany). For years he has appeared on the posters for the most prestigious Italian theatres, La Fenice in Venice, San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro del Giglio, Comunale in Bologna, “Terme di Caracalla-Teatro dell’Opera di Roma” Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Sociale in Como, Teatro D. Alighieri in Ravenna, Grande in Brescia, Ponchielli in Cremona, Fraschini in Pavia, Filarmonico in Verona, Teatro Bellini in Catania. In 2011 he debuted at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in Cavalleria Rusticana. He was later engaged for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Manon Lescaut.
Recent engagements: tour in Japan with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, director Zubin Mehta. Cavalleria e Pagliacci at the Teatro Cilea in Reggio Calabria upcoming is Pagliacci in Cagliari.
