Antonio Watts - Baritone

Antonio Watts has appeared as a concert and opera soloist throughout America and abroad. Opera News critic Robert Croan, writing in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, observed, “Antonio Watts impressed in the role of the gangster Schlemil!” WFMT classical radio host Andrew Patner, writing in the Chicago Sun-Times, observed, "Antonio Watts showed a powerful and attractive voice." David Schengold, writing in Opera News, observed, "(Antonio) In all five performances, showcased a cultivated baritone."

In his travels abroad, Mr. Watts visits Ghana, West Africa to perform benefit concert tours and has given masterclasses that raised disease awareness and money, to build children's hospitals. In Europe as well as Ghana, his interviews and performances aired live, on national broadcasts.

Since moving to New York in 2014, Mr. Watts has performed at The Metropolitan Opera House, The Kennedy Center, and The Kaufman Center for Performing Arts as a soloist with Ms. Kathleen Battle; Carnegie Hall, The Bronx Opera, The Frick Collection Museum, Loft Opera, and throughout the tri-state area.

In a multifaceted musical career, Antonio has debuted as cabaret headliner in Antonio Watts LIVE! at The Metropolitan Room in July of 2016, and returned for another show in February of 2017 with Mr. Joel A. Martin as musical director. In 2018, Mr. Watts performed on Broadway in Rocktopia LIVE! In 2019, Mr. Watts created the role, Manuel, in The Andean Hope, with The United Nations Symphony Orchestra, and opened the 2019-2020 season of the Metropolitan Opera House, singing in Porgy and Bess. Antonio performed at the Apollo Theatre - a soloist for Al Sharpton's 65th birthday celebration in conjunction with the NAN Triumph Awards 2019. Additionally, he met and performed for Phylicia Rashad and Geoffrey Owens on a dedication concert - celebrating the renaming of the Phylicia Rashad Auditorium in Mount Vernon, New York.

Most recently, Mr. Watts made his debut at The Hollywood Bowl in 'Nebuchadnezzar: A Kanye West Opera' as Daniel, the prophet. The performance was filmed and published on Tidal. He was rehired to create the role of Gabriel in 'Mary: A Kanye West Opera' which premiered in Miami, Florida during the Art Basel Festival. 'Mary' completed a brief bicoastal tour, culminating with a performance at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Centre.
