Ricardo Seguel - bass-baritone
Ricardo Seguel was born in Concepción, Chile and made his operatic debut at age of 21 in Traviata at Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile. He has performed at this theatre in different titles as Nabucco, Rigoletto, Tosca, Carmen, Tristan und Isolde, Lohengrin, Dialogues des Carmélites, Thaïs, Lakmé, Les Pêcheurs des Perles, Simon Boccanegra.
In 2006 he made his debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni. This was the first of many buffo-roles mainly in works by composers as Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti, becoming somehow his specialty. This way he has performed as Don Bartolo and Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Selim in Il Turco in Italia, Alidoro in Cenerentola, Don Profondo in Il Viaggio a Reims, Mustafà in L’Italiana in Algeri, Don Pasquale in Don Pasquale, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amor, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro and recently made his debut as Melitone in La Forza del Destino.
Mr. Seguel has interpreted this repertory in such theaters around the world as Teatro Campoamor de Oviedo, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía de Valencia, Palacio Euskalduna para ABAO-OLBE in Bilbao, Grand Theatre Massenet de St. Etienne, Palacio de Bellas Artes de la Ciudad de México, Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Nacional de Lima, Auditorio Nacional del SODRE de Montevideo, Teatro Municipal de Santiago and others.
He has been engaged in projects with renowned conductors as Maurizio Benini, Ottavio Dantone, Michelle Mariotti, Antonello Allemandi, Yves Abel, Massimo Zanetti, Iván López-Reynoso or José Miguel Pérez Sierra as well as with distinguished stage directors as Emilio Sagi, Joan Anton Rechi, Guy Joosten, Joan Font (Les Arts Commediants), Nicola Berloffa and Marcelo Lombardero.
