Oleg Volkov - bass baritone
Awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the young bass-baritone Oleg Volkov was a member of the Opéra Studio of the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg from 2021 to 2023. In this theater, he notably played the roles of Fauteuil and Arbre in Maurice Ravel’s "L'Enfant et le ssortilèges," the Hoopoe in Howard Moody's "Lunar Lake," the roles of the Priest, the Armored Man and covered the role of the Speaker in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," as well as Maximilian and Sam in Bernstein's "Candide" and "Trouble in Tahiti," respectively. He also covered the title role, the roles of the Reindeer, and the Clock in Hans Abrahamsen’s "The Snow Queen."
Fluent in French and English, with a good command of Italian and German, Oleg began his professional career at the State Theater of Krasnodar in 2012. There, he performed notable roles such as Masetto in "Don Giovanni," the Speaker in "The Magic Flute," the role of Dulcamara in "L’elisir d’amore"Prince Gremin in "Eugene Onegin," and prepared his first recital.
In 2014, right after completing his Master's degree in Linguistics (Phonology and Phonetics) in Russia, he moved to France to study under Mr. Jacques Schwarz at the Conservatoire de Toulouse until 2021. The summers of 2014 and 2015 were spent in Italy, in Greve in Chianti, Tuscany, as part of Daniel Ferro Vocal Program, where he met Gianni Tangucci and was invited to participate in a internship at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
Programs like the "Daniel Ferro Vocal Program," "Exzellenz Labor Oper," and the "Michel Plasson International Academy of French Music" have greatly influenced and developed Oleg's musical interests.
Currently an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Oleg is dedicating himself to preparing roles for the upcoming seasons under the guidance of exceptional teachers (Jose van Dam, Sophie Koch, Stéphane Degout) and coaches (Sophie Raynaud, Kira Perfeevets, Olivier Reboul). In the 24/25 season, he will make his debuts at the Philharmonie de Paris (Marquis d’Obigny, la Traviata, conductor J.Rhorer), the Opéra de Nice (Bohuslav Martinu’s opera Juliette), the Théâtre des Champs Elysées (Dulcamara, l’elisir d’amore), and La Monnaie de Munt in Brussels (the role of Charles Bovary in a new opera Bovary commissioned from Harold Noben, the world premiere of which will take place in
