Maria Belen Rivarola - soprano
Born in Argentina, she began her musical studies in piano at the age of seven. Years later, she continues to study at the School of Music at the National University of Rosario, studying piano and singing. In 2017, she received her bachelor’s degree as a vocalist from the Higher Institute of Art of the Teatro Colón (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón (ISATC)). She obtained an international scholarship from “Mozarteum Argentino” to study vocal technique in the USA. Since 2019, she has been part of the permanent cast of the Teatro Colón.
She appeared as a soloist in countries such as Brazil, Chile, Peru, the USA, France, Italy, and Oman, among others. She has performed main roles such as: “Carmen” by Bizet (Micaela); Puccini’s “La Boheme” (Musetta); “Don Giovanni” (Donna Elvira and Donna Anna) and “La Clemenza di Tito” (Vitellia) by W. A. Mozart; “La Traviata” (Violetta), and “II Trovatore” (Leonora) by G. Verdi, among others.
María Belén has received awards in nine singing competitions: “Concurso de canto Alejandro Cordero” and “Concurso Nacional de Canto Lírico Enrique Francovigh” (Argentina); “Concurso Internacional de Canto Ciudad de Trujillo” (Perú); “Festival Internacional de Canto Maria Callas” (Brazil); “Concurso Internacional de Ejecución Musical Dr. Luis Sigall” (Chile), and “Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition” (EEUU).
Her latest commitments were “La Boheme” by Puccini at the Teatro Colón and Teatro del Bicentenario (Argentina), and her debut at Teatro Solís (Uruguay) in the opera “Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo. In 2023, María Belén will be Hanna Glawari in the production of “Die lustige Witwe” (title role) at the Teatro Colón.
Mrs. Rivarola is an ambassador of “Opera for Peace”, a worldwide organization and a new cultural movement that believes in the strength of connecting nations and transcending differences through the unifying communication of opera, working on a common goal of artistic excellence and promoting positive universal values and mutual respect.
