Francesco Napoleoni - tenor
Francesco Napoleoni is an Italian tenor, educated very young in the “G. Bricciardi” Conservatory in his home town, Terni, and then he privately trained in Milan with the Maestro Vittorio Terranova. Very important for his technical-vocal development is the acquaintance with the tenor Antonio Gandìa in a masterclass held in the Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid.
He majored at the Accademia di alto perfezionamento in the Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago, where he played as student in two Tuscan Opera Studio: LTL, which led to his debut in Febr. 2016 at Teatro del Giglio in Lucca with the Merry Widow (Franz Lehar) and then MOF (where he won a scholarship after attending a masterclass with the soprano Fiorenza Cedolins) with a following debut at Teatro Goldoni in Livorno at the Tabarro (Giacomo Puccini).
Even though his career is characterized mostly by a character tenor repertoire, in his two first years of activity, he has performed in the main roles in Macbeth (G. Verdi) and in Tabarro (G. Puccini).
He cooperated with several important lyric Foundations (Festival Puccini, Luglio Musicale Trapanese, Teatro Coccia in Novara, Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Teatro Verdi in Pisa, Changsha Meixihu International Culture and Art Centre), by which he was cast in important productions under the direction of important conductors, such as Marcello Rota, Dmitri Jurowski, Alberto Veronesi, Hirofumi Yoshida, Fabrizio Da Ros, Giovanni Di Stefano, Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli, Fabio Mastrangelo, Nicola Paszkowski, Manuela Ranno, and important directors such as Giancarlo del Monaco, Enrico Vanzina, Dieter Kaegi, Maurizio Scaparro, Massimo Gasparon Contarini Pizzi, Fabio Sparvoli, Daniele de Plano, Giandomenico Vaccari, Alfonso Signorini, Salvo Piro, Renato Bonajuto.
In May 2009 he is a finalist in the international contest for opera singers Piero Sardelli, performing the part of Nemorino at the Elisir d’Amore (G. Donizetti). In the same year he performs some concerts with the Maestro pianist Maurizio Colacicchi (who holds regular courses of Italian and Spanish vocal chamber music). He is cast for the opening of Puccini Festival 2016 concert, Puccini Raro, and he received a special mention at “Premio Accademia Amici del Festival Pucciniano” in Torre del Lago. He attended the Masterclasses of the soprano Fiorenza Cedolins, of the basso Roberto Scandiuzzi, of the baritono Silvano Carroli, of the Maestro Eugenio Fogliati and of the conductor Maurizio Barbacini. In April 2019, he performs for his first time in San Francisco, along with the Ensemble Le Muse under the conduction of Maestro Andrea Albertini.
Recently, he debuted with success in the role of Don Basilio in the “Le Nozze di Figaro” (W.A. Mozart) at the Teatro Goldoni in Livorno (this Opera will be reperformed in season 2020/21 at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa and at Teatro del Giglio in Lucca). In March 2020 he will perform as Abate Poeta in the Andrea Chénier (U. Giordano) at Teatro Sociale in Rovigo. In August 2020 he will perform as Goro in the
“Madama Butterfly” (G. Puccini) at the 66° Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago under the direction of Maestro Enrico Calesso.
