Abraham Breton - tenor
The Mexican-Spanish tenor Abraham Bretón has been part of the Oper Frankfurt's opera studio since last season, where he debuted as Der Gastwirt Pasek (The Cunning Little Vixen) and then also made his debut as Prince Yamadori (Madama Butterfly). His roles in the current season include his debuts as Count von Gloria-Cassis (The Bandits), First Man in Armor (The Magic Flute), Don José (Carmen) and as Lucio/A Gondolier in Rossini's Otello.
In the 2013/14 season he made significant debuts in his Mexican hometown of Puebla in roles such as Nemorino (L'elisir d'amore) and Alfredo in (La traviata). He then sang at the summer program “Oberlin in Italy” with the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz and in March 2023 Verdi’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall. After completing his studies at the Escuela Nacional de Música University in Mexico, he continued his opera training in the United States in 2016, where he was a member of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia until 2020. In 2018, Abraham Bretón was in the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program, where he sang the role of the Trickster in Bernstein's Candide and was heard as the Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto). In 2019 he returned to Graz for successful zarzuela performances.
